Eleanor Kirksey Bruce, 95 of Paducah passed away at 10:09 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center. Eleanor was a native of Yorkville, TN, a 50 year member of Dyer First Methodist Church in Dyer, TN and currently a member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Paducah. She was a retiree of Martin Marietta, Milan, TN.
Survivors include one son, Dr. William Bruce and wife, Dot of Paducah, KY; one daughter, Barbara Fortner and husband, Alan of Daytona Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Carrie Bruce Warren of Cornelius, NC, Will M. Bruce and wife, Anne of Eaton, OH, Jonathan Fortner of Hattisburg, MS and Joshua Fortner and wife, Angela of Daytona Beach, FL; nine great-grandchildren, Noah Warren, Curt Warren, Shelby Warren, Isabella Bruce, Billy Bruce, McKenzie Fortner, Anderson Fortner, Asa Fortner and Emily Fortner.
Preceding in death was her husband of 54 years, Joe Bruce Jr.; parents, Eual Kirksey & Bertie Williams Kirksey and one brother, William Kirksey.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Dyer, TN With Rev. Lora Jean Gowan and John Sparks officiating. Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the Broadway United Methodist Church in Paducah with the Revs. Lora Jean Gowan, Joe Beal and John Sparks officiating.
The Bruce family would like to say a special “Thank You” to caregivers, Debra Norsworthy and Pat Renfrew. Also to Carolyn Bledsoe, Colleen Mitchell and the rest of the wonderful staff at New Haven Assisted Living in Kevil, KY.
