James “Jimmy” Timmons, 86, of Paducah, KY,
passed away at 12:14 p.m. Monday, July 6, at home surrounded by his family.
Jimmy found comfort in his Christian faith and was looking forward to the day
he would join his loved ones in heaven.
Jimmy was born in Lowertown in 1929
and had vivid memories of growing up in downtown Paducah during the 1937 flood
and playing on the Ohio River with his brother. He was a proud graduate of Lone
Oak High School, where he served as senior class president.
Jimmy was a U.S. Army veteran.
After graduating from Paducah Beauty School, he owned his own beauty shop and
other businesses in Paducah for 45 years.
Jimmy was known as a sharp dressed
man with a kind heart. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren
and adored his wife, Glenda. He loved horses and telling stories of his
ancestral home in the old 23rd District of
northwest Tennessee.
Jimmy was survived by three sons,
Rick Timmons and wife Janice; Patrick Timmons and Dutchie Timmons and wife
Angie, all of Paducah; six grandchildren, Lindsay Niedbalski of Nashville,
Ill., Amanda Bealmear of Hopkinsville, Rae Anne Perry, Ryan Timmons, Preston
Ursini and Ashton Mariner, all of Paducah; five great-grandchildren, Conner
Perry, Mailee Perry, Eli Crouch, Riley Bealmear and Peyton Bealmear.
He was preceded in death by his
wife of nearly 60 years, Glenda Timmons; one brother, Dwight Timmons. His
parents were Charley Ray and Lena Wynn Timmons.
Graveside services will be 1:00p.m.
Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
