For the first time in his career, Murray State redshirt sophomore quarterback KD Humphries has been named as the adidas® OVC Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday afternoon.
Humphries had a career night that included completing the most passes ever by a MSU quarterback in a single game during Saturday's 30-27 overtime loss at Tennessee Tech. The Montgomery, Ala, native went 48-for-62 with no interceptions on the night, surpassing Casey Brockman's previous record of 45 which he achieved on two separate occasions.
The sophomore strung together stretches of 20 and 12 consecutive passes in the game and finished with a completion percentage of 77.2 percent. In addition, Humphries had one passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns on the night. Rushing wise, he had 12 attempts for 49 total yards gained with a long of 24.
Through three starts in five games this season, Humphries is 108-for-160 with 1,046 yards, just one interception and six touchdowns. In addition, his has 96 rushing yards on the year and three scores by way of the run.
On Saturday, Humphries and the rest of the Racers will look to get off of a four-game schneid when they host Southeast Missouri for Homecoming 2014. Kick-off at Roy Stewart Stadium is scheduled for 3 p.m.
