After helping their team to its first 3-0 OVC start since 1997, Murray State quarterback Drew Anderson and kicker Gabriel Vicente were named as Offensive Player and Specialist of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. In addition, Anderson was also named as the Newcomer of the Week by the OVC and as the Ohio Valley Offensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

Drew Anderson was 33-for-51 Saturday for 348 yards and a career-high five touchdowns with just one interception. In addition, he led the Racer rushing attack with 63 yards and added another touchdown on a 19-yard keeper. The transfer completed passes to 11 different receivers in the contest and engineered four touchdown drives of 70 yards or longer. With his five touchdowns, he becomes just the eighth quarterback in MSU history to throw at least five touchdown passes in a single game joining Casey Brockman, Jeff Ehrhardt, Justin Fuente, KD Humphries, Maikhail Miller, Michael Proctor and Larry Tillman.

Vicente was a perfect 7-fo-7 on kicks Saturday with a field goal and six extra points. His lone field goal of the game went down as season-long of 47 yards. He is now 29-for-29 on all kicks this season including 8-for-8 on field goals. This is the third career Specialist of the Week honor for Vicente having twice earned the accolade last season.
