The McCracken County Mustangs have hired Hopkinsville High School head football coach Marc Clark to be the next football coach of the Mustangs.

Clark comes to McCracken County after six seasons at Hopkinsville. Clark inherited a Hopkinsville program that was 17-27 in the four seasons prior to his arrival. The Tigers improved their win total each season under Clark, culminating with a 20-4 record his final two seasons there.

Clark made it known right away that he's thrilled to be at McCracken County.

"I'm ready to meet with my team and I wish I could get out to the football field with them this afternoon to start some drills and get ready for spring football," Clark said. "I have 100 different things on my mind right now that I'm ready to get underway at McCracken County and I'll be starting on all of that immediately."

Clark said that while he loved his time at Hopkinsville High School, he has always dreamed of coaching at a school like McCracken County.

"What's not to love about McCracken County High School?" Clark said. "They have the best facilities of any school in the state, the administration is something that everyone speaks highly of, and it's a community that I'm excited to get to know, set an anchor, and raise my family in."

McCracken County High School Activities Director Kris Garrett said Clark's resume stood out from the beginning of the coaching search that led him to believe it would be the right fit.

"The success combined with the consistency that (Clark) developed at Hopkinsville matched the vision that we are looking for going forward at McCracken County," Garrett said. "It was evident from the beginning of the process of his desire to take over the program at McCracken. He had thoroughly done his research, not only on the football program, but all aspects of McCracken County High School."
