Whether it’s a backyard or on the farm, keeping chickens is so popular it’s turned into a lifestyle for many. You can immerse yourselves in the fowl knowledge anywhere these days. There’s even the Chicken People documentary (available free on Tubi).

In our area, the Western Kentucky Poultry Club is where you can meet and learn from others in the arena. Today, the club is hosting their second show at Ballard Industrial in LaCenter. One of the show’s coordinators, Lindsey Hughes, said there are 724 birds from all over this area PLUS as far away as Wisconsin, Ohio and Oklahoma. There is even a separate, climate-controlled area for the Seramas. If you had to look that up, you are not alone. Most people could not tell you all the breeds, nor how many types are at today’s show!

The show is open to the public until 2pm today. There’s no admission fee. You can find out more about the club at westkentuckypoultry.com
