120-mph car chase through southern Illinois ends with crash in Vienna

In southern Illinois, a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle began in PUlaski County on Saturday night, and ended when the car crashed in Vienna.

The pursuit originated on Interstate 57. The northbound vehicle exited at Dongola in Union County, then headed east on Illinois Route 146 in Johnson County. During the pursuit, speeds reached approximately 120 miles per hour.

In Vienna the suspect vehicle turned onto North 3rd Street, passing Vienna Grade School, then turned into the Vienna High School parking lot, where it crashed into a ditch.

No injuries were reported.

Five individuals were initially taken into custody. The driver, 19-year-old Jaquavius Alstin D’ion Oglesby of Sikeston, Missouri, was arrested on several felony charges. 

The four additional occupants were later released.
