The pattern continues for a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms this weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah.
Today looks to be hot and humid, with peak afternoon heat index values of 100 to 105°F. An isolated afternoon thunderstorm is possible.
The weekend forecast looks more unsettled. A 40-60 percent chance of thunderstorms will be in place on Saturday and Sunday, with the greatest coverage during the afternoon and evening hours.
A few of the storms could turn severe, with damaging wind gusts and large hail being the main threats. Torrential downpours and localized flooding are also possible.
