Benton police recover car stolen from McCracken County

The Benton police department stopped and recovered a vehicle stolen in McCracken County on Thursday.

Benton police officers determined that the stolen 2012 Chevrolet Malibu was mobile, and they conducted a high-risk traffic stop. The driver and a female passenger were safely detained without incident.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located suspected illegal narcotics.

The driver, Jeffrey Stokes of Benton, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and operating on a suspended or tevoked operator’s license.

The female passenger, Owen Wright of Paducah, was charged with possession of a controlled substance
