Caldwell Fiscal Court approves first reading of FY 2027 budget

In a meeting earlier this week, Caldwell Fiscal Court approved first reading of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget.

WPKY reported the proposed $12 million budget is $3 million more than last year with Judge Executive Kota Young noting the county's cash reserve has increased to $8 million.

The budget includes a $2.50 hourly raise for jail staff and funding to hire a 20 hour per week emergency management deputy.

Judge Executive Young also stated beginning next year occupational tax collection will be consolidated into one tax bill.  Further discussion on this topic will take place during the court's June meeting.
