A collision in Calloway County claimed two lives on Thursday.
Calloway County deputies responded to the two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 80 and Brinn Road.
Their invesigation indicated that a car operated by 37-year-old Amanda Laster of Murray was stopped in the median to make a turn. Investigators believe Laster failed to see an oncoming pickup pulling a loaded horse trailer, driven by 39-year-old Trent Pendel of Fancy Farm traveling on Highway 80.
As Laster entered the roadway, her vehicle was struck by the pickup. Laster and her 16-year-old son, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Calloway County Coroner.
A 12-year-old female passenger seated in the rear of the vehicle, was extricated by Calloway County Fire and Rescue, and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Pendel reported no injuries.
