As of this week, Kentucky cases have now spiked to 94 in the state for this year, with all but four happening in July, August and September. This compares to the end of August, when 38 total cases had been reported so far. For comparison, Kentucky only saw a year-long total of 13 in 2025.
The monthly pace of reports has also been ramping up through the summer. Nine cases were reported this year in July, 34 in August, and 47 in September.
The two largest concentrations of the outbreak remain to be in Christian County with 44, and in Trigg County with 23.
Nearby Caldwell County reported 2 cases in August, but they have not reported any additional cases since then.
Other counties include Barren, Carroll, Jessamine, Lewis, Owen, Todd, Trimble and Washington.
Of the Kentucky cases for the year, eight required hospitalization. There have been no deaths associated with the measles this year in Kentucky. Two have been reported nationally.
Most states have reported measles this year, 22 states are still under ten cases, and many of those are zero or one. The largest outbreaks have been 977 in Pennsylvania (102 added this week), and 677 in South Carolina from late 2025 into 2026, but their outbreak was declared over in April. Wisconsin reported 72 new infections this past week for a year's total of 243.
