An investigation into a stolen side-by-side in Marshall County led the arrest of another man for an unrelated incident.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to Briensburg Tatumsville Road on Tuesday to investigate the stolen UTV.
Deputies said tracks from the stolen side-by-side led to a neighboring home where they found 51-year-old Donald G. Thorn of Benton passed out inside a vehicle with a pistol on his lap.
Earlier in the day, deputies said Thorn was wanted for questioning by Calvert City Police regarding a road rage incident.
When approached by police, Thorn became belligerent and refused to get out of the vehicle. The Marshall County Special Response Team was called to the scene. They deployed gas into the vehicle, and Thorn got out without further incident.
He was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Back on the trail of the stolen side-by-side, it was later reported to have been crashed in the area of Ridge Road and Frazier Road.
Marshall County detectives and Calvert City police found 39-year-old Derek Darnall of Gilbertsville in the area and determined he had been driving the stolen side-by-side.
Darnall was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and receiving stolen property over $1,000.
