Dorena-Hickman ferry back open for now

Because of recent rains, the Dorena-Hickman ferry was able to open on Saturday after being closed since Labor Day due to low water levels on the Mississippi River.

The ferry will run on its regular fall schedule as long as the river level is high enough. Operators posted Saturday that the projected river levels indicate they should be able to run through the weekend.  

The ferry was delayed Sunday morning by fog, and that could be the case again on Monday morning.
