Eddyville man injured in US 62 crash

An Eddyville man was injured in a Thursday afternoon crash in Lyon County.

The crash happened about 12:30 p.m. Thursday along US 62 near Bent Tree Lane. Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies said that an SUV driven by 53-year-old Cheryl York of Benton was headed east when another SUV driven by 41-year-old Kenneth Whitney of Eddyville was trying to pass. York was turning right onto Bent Tree Lane, but Whitney did not see that York was turning until it was too late to avoid the collision.  

Whitney’s vehicle flipped over after the collision and slid to a stop in the emergency lane. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. He was later cited for having an expired license.

York was not injured.
