The Murray Sentinel reported Friday Justin Swope appeared in court Thursday to testify in a Calloway Circuit Court case involving Robert Rhodes, who was tried on rape, indecent exposure and attempted unlawful transaction with a minor.
Swope served as lead investigator in that case.
According to the citation filed in the new case, the investigation began May 19th after Kentucky State Police received a complaint involving Swope.
The following day, investigators learned that the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cyber tip from an electronic service provider reporting an account that allegedly possessed and distributed child sexual abuse material. The citation identified Swope as the account holder of that social media account.
The new citation does not identify whether the materials Swope allegedly possessed and distributed involved the same minor identified as the victim in Swope’s other cases.
Swope was indicted by a Calloway County grand jury in June and a Trigg County grand jury in July concerning a sex crimes case involving a minor from 2018-2021.
He will appear in Calloway District Court Tuesday for arraignment on the new charges.
