Forecast focuses on some highs approaching 100 next week

September brings one more heat wave, with highs approaching 100 for some locations next week.

The National Weather service says seasonably warm conditions around 90 will continue the next two days before a late summer heatwave invades the region starting Sunday and lasting through next week. 

High temperatures will be amongst the hottest we've experienced this summer, with readings reaching the mid to upper 90s (possibly a few localized readings to 100). Paducah's historical daily high for the start of September is 87.

Record highs for Paducah next week range from 101 to 104, all of which were set in the years 1953 or 1954. (Later in the month, 13 of September's record highs were set in 1938 or 1939.)

Overnight lows also look quite balmy, remaining in the mid 70s by mid to late week which may threaten to set some new record warm lows. 

The prolonged duration of the heat may warrant issuing some heat advisories or warnings.

Dry conditions are forecast for at least the next week.
