Freedom Fest is set for this Friday in Murray.
As always the Freedom Fest celebration this summer includes a number of activities with events starting at 7 a.m. Things get started with the Gary Taylor Memorial Breakfast, and end with the Murray Bank Fireworks Extravaganza at 9 p.m.
Starting off on Friday, July 4th, Boy Scout Troop 45 will host their The Gary Taylor Memorial Breakfast is hosted by Boy Scout Troop 45 at First Methodist Church from 7 to 9:30 a.m. The breakfast features country ham, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy. Tickets will be $10 at the door and children under 5 eat free.
The Main Street Mile sponsored by Growing Wild is at 8:45 a.m. Registration and packet pick up begins at 7:30 a.m. at the US Bank, with the race going down the parade route toward the downtown square. Registration is $25.
FNB Freedom Fest Parade will commence at 9:30 a.m. with parading tractors, antique cars, floats and more through Main Street. The parade will begin at 10th St at Memorial Baptist Church and continues down Main Street ending at Cherry Street.
The Murray Bank Ice Cream Machine will be stationed at the Central Park Pool in the park from 1- 1:30 p.m. providing free ice cream and popsicles.
After all of the afternoon activities, the MSU Town & Gown Community Band performance will take place inside Lovett Auditorium starting at 7 p.m. This concert is free for those in the community.
The Freedom Fest-tivities will conclude with The Murray Bank Fireworks Extravaganza commencing at 9 p.m. The fireworks can be viewed along HWY 641 North. The best view for the spectacular show can be found in the Kroger, Walmart or Chamber of Commerce
parking lots.
