A mother and her son were taken to a hospital Tuesday after a collision in western Graves County.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the intersection of KY 339 and KY 408 for a single-vehicle crash.

Their investigation determined 45-year-old Gwendolen Baker, of Murray, was westbound on KY 408. She stated she had just purchased the vehicle, and while traveling down a hill, for some reason the vehicle veered to the right, causing it to leave the roadway and strike a support beam of a railroad bridge.

Baker and her 10-year-old son, Kayden Lawrence, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
