A Hazel man is facing firearms charges after deputies try to serve a warrant at his home.

Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies went to the Brandon Road home of 49-year-old John R. Thomure in an attempt to serve a warrant issued out of Caldwell County for violation of conditional release. When they got to the home about 11:30 p.m. Monday, they found Thomure with a firearm nearby. Given his previous felony conviction, Thomure is not allowed to have a gun.

Thomure was arrested on the Caldwell warrant and additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
