The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.
High temperatures in the upper 90s will be widespread. Some locations may reach 100 or more.
Heat index values will range from 102 to 108.
The heat will be ahead of an approaching cold front that will provide a chance of showers and some thunderstorms late Wednesday through Thursday night.
A few storms Wednesday afternoon and evening may become severe, with damaging wind gusts the main concern.
The best chance for overall rain will be late Wednesday night and all day Thursday. A slight chance of rain will linger into Friday and the weekend.
