Mayfield man indicted in connection with 2025 fatal accident

A Mayfield man was indicted earlier this week in connection with a traffic accident last year that killed a woman and her unborn child.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office said in a social media post 30-year-old Sherrod Shelton was indicted earlier this week on murder and fatal homicide in connection with the accident July 1st last year in the 2000 block of KY 408 West that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Raye Jones and her unborn child.

Shelton is currently incarcerated on unrelated Graves County charges stemming from an incident that occurred in November, 2025 where a child suffered burns from a cigarette to its body. He was charged with criminal abuse in that case.
