A Graves County man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on animal cruelty charges.

The Graves County Sheriff's Office said they were called by Graves County Animal Control in regards to an animal cruelty case.

A request for a welfare check of two dogs on chains, in the sun with no shade led to the discovery of a deceased adult dog.

A temperature measuring device was utilized to determine the dogs body temperature. The device only reads up to 111 degrees, and the reading exceeded the limits of the device.

Investigators arrested 29-year-old Gage W. Walker on the charge of torture to a dog or cat.  He was transported to an out of county detention facility.

It's not Walker's first brush with law enforcement.  Records indicate that Walker was ordered to serve one year in jail in July 2025 in McCracken County for promoting contraband.
