Metropolis man caught on video tossing baggie from car prior to a stop

A Metropolis man was caught on video tossing a baggie out of his car prior to a traffic stop.

Metropolis Police said an officer pulled in behind a vehicle after it failed to signal a turn from 3rd Street to Pearl. As the officer prepared to stop the car, driven by 41-year-old Darren Kidd of Metropolis, the driver tossed a plastic baggie out the window. The toss was caught on dashcam video from the police car. 

The officer retrieved the baggie and it reportedly contained a "white powdery substance."

Kidd was charged with possession of a controlled substance and released on a notice to appear.
