McCracken County High School students can now take dual credit courses to begin their college career.

Earlier this week, Murray State President Dr. Ron K. Patterson and McCracken County School Superintendent Josh Hunt formally recognized a new partnership establishing the McCracken County Racer Academy, which launched in August with the signing of a memorandum of understanding.

Through the partnership, Murray State University will offer in-person dual credit courses in core academic subject areas to college-bound students attending McCracken County High School.

Dual credit courses allow high school students to earn both high school and college credit while gaining experience with college-level coursework.

These opportunities can help students strengthen college readiness and begin making progress toward a college degree before graduating from high school, potentially reducing the time and cost required to complete a degree.

“We are pleased to partner with the McCracken County Public School District to expand access to meaningful college-level learning opportunities for local students,” Murray State University President Dr. Ron K. Patterson said.

“The McCracken County Racer Academy reflects our shared commitment to preparing students for success beyond high school by helping them build confidence, strengthen their academic foundation and get an early start on their college education. By creating pathways that make higher education more accessible and affordable, we are investing in the future of these students and the communities they will one day serve.”

"I want to thank Dr. Patterson and Murray State for continuing to be such great partners with McCracken County Schools. We are beyond excited about the opportunities Murray State offering classes on our campus through Racer Academy will provide for our students now and in the years ahead," McCracken County Public School District Superintendent Josh Hunt said.
