Three-vehicle crash near Smithland injures three

A three-vehicle crash on Saturday near Smithland sent three people to the hospital.

The crash happened at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday along US 60 at Cutoff Road. Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies said an SUV driven by 41-year-old Amber Patton of Eddyville was on Cutoff Road coming up to the stop sign and could not stop, as wet conditions from light rain caused the vehicle to slide into US 60. The SUV hit a smaller eastbound SUV driven by 23-year-old Jaelyn Gilland of Smithland.

Patton’s vehicle then crashed into a pickup driven by 35-year-old LaRanda Henson of Ledbetter, which was headed west on US 60.

Patton, a juvenile passenger in her vehicle, and Gilland were all taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
