A small earthquake shook a portion of Southeast Missouri near the Mississippi River on Saturday morning.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey at the University of Memphis, the quake took place at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The tremor registered as a magnitude 2.4 on the Richter Scale. It was centered about 3.9 miles east-southeast of Marston, Missouri, or about 27 miles south of Sikeston near the Mississippi River.
No damage was reported.
The U.S.G.S. has said that an earthquake would usually need to be measured at 2.5 or higher before it is felt by humans.
