The latest long-term outlook from the National Weather Service says we won't be likely to suffer through an early summer heat wave, at least for the rest of June.
NOAA's 8-to-14 day outlook says that increased probabilities for below-normal temperatures are favored for much of the Northern and Central Plains and Midwest. That same cooler Canadian air should ultimately push farther south than usual for this time of year.
The trend for June 23-29 is for temperatures to be below average across Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky. Temps will be closer to normal across Arkansas and Tennessee, even into the northern edge of the Gulf Coast states.
Paducah's historical average daytime temperature for the final week of June is 89 degrees. So, the extended forecast is pointing toward highs more like 82-86, and avoiding very many days in the 90s.
