Fort Campbell is staging a full-scale emergency preparedness exercise on Wednesday and Thursday.
The drill is an annual event designed to test the response of the post to a realistic emergency scenario. Medical response, law enforcement, and damage assessment will be part of what is gauged by the exercise.
Wayne Nims, the Installation Emergency Manager for Fort Campbell, said, “This week’s exercise is a culmination of all the hard work, training, and dedication of all the installation partners. Exercises like this provide leaders a great assessment tool to ensure we are always prepared to respond swiftly and effectively, ensuring the safety of the Fort Campbell community.”
People in the area of Fort Campbell will see more first responders, both military and civilian, in the area. There will also be signs and personnel to keep people out of the areas where the exercise is underway.
Officials said that all regular emergency services will still be available during the drill.
