A fundraiser is underway in Paducah for the injured McCracken County Deputy Jailer.

Angel Bugg was beaten by an inmate at the McCracken County Regional Jail after she stepped in to help a fellow deputy who had reportedly been rushed during service to the occupied cell. Jailer Stephen Carter set up a GoFundMe account to take care of expenses that did not fall under the coverage of insurance or workers’ compensation. Now, a Paducah restaurant is stepping up to help, as well.

The Station Burger Company in Kentucky Oaks Mall is donating a portion of today’s proceeds to Bugg. The restaurant is a themed restaurant honoring first responders. The company said in a release, “Respect for those who serve our community is part of who we are. This fundraiser is about supporting a local hero who showed up to work and didn’t get to go home the same way. We want Angel and her family to know that Paducah stands with them.”

In addition to money generated from sales, The Station Burger Company will also accept donations in the store and online.

The restaurant is open inside the mall until 9 p.m.
