A McCracken County District Court Judge granted former McCracken County High School Principal Michael Ceglinski's request to expunge all records of criminal charges against him stemming from his handling of a 2019 sexual abuse case at the school.

Prosecutors charged Ceglinski with failure to report child dependent neglect/abuse and criminal misconduct, after an investigation led to the arrest of 18-year-old Princekumar Joshi on charges of using an electronic device to record or possess illegal sexual images of a minor. Charges were filed against Ceglinski after investigators said they discovered he had not reported the abuse to law enforcement.

The charges against Ceglinski were eventually dropped by McCracken County Attorney Sam Clymer. Joshi later entered an Alford plea to a sexual misconduct charge and pleaded guilty to evidence tampering. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

A judge granted Ceglinski's expungement order on Jan. 16, which means all public records of his original charges will be removed.

Ceglinski now serves as assistant superintendent of McCracken County Schools. He has since been named in a lawsuit filed against the school district by lawyers representing the former student who reported the sexual assault.
