One new map from the National Weather Service is finally pointing to an end of nearly two straight weeks of 105+ heat index readings.
NOAA's latest 6- to 10-day outlook, effective July 31 through August 4, is actually showing the prospect of temperatures forecast to be slightly cooler than average.
Paducah's historic average for August 1 is 90, so this isn't pointing to an actual cold snap, but at least to a promising end of the daily need for heat advisories to be issued.
By the way, Paducah's average of 90 continues well past the first of the month. It's historically 90 degrees every day until August 21, then gradually dips to 88 on September 1. Then our daily highs start to slide noticeably, to 78 on October 1 and 65 on November 1.
