A Friday night traffic stop in McCracken County landed a Paducsh man in jail on a drug charge.

A McCracken County Sheriff's deputy stopped a truck driven by 56-year-old Lucian Richardson just after 11:30 p.m. near Noble and Meredith Roads. The deputy indicated that the stop took place because the rear license plate was not lit, but a computer check found that Richardson was driving on a DUI-suspended license.

Richardson reportedly volunteered that he had a small quantity of marijuana in his pocket. However, a further search is said to have found suspected methamphetamine in the truck.

Richardson was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, driving on a DUI-suspended license, and other traffic offenses. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
