Local communities have been showing their Christmas spirit with parades and other festivities, and one parade remains this year - in Ballard County.

The parade starts at 6 pm, and retiring Ballard County Clerk Lynn Lane is the Grand Marshall this year. Hot Chocolate will be served during the parade on Broadway.

Floats must be in the fairgrounds and lined up by 5:30 pm. Prizes will be given in four float categories: Church, School, Emergency (first responders) and Other. Organizations that win will receive a $500 donation from the parade committee. Winner of the Other category can choose a non-profit group that will receive their $500 prize.

Those who attend the parade are asked to bring non-perishable foods to donate, because one float in the parade will be collecting food to pass along to Ballard County food pantries.

A chili supper is being hosted immediately after the parade at First Baptist Church. The meal is a fundraiser for Ballard Memorial High School's Project Graduation.

If you can't make it Saturday night, the parade will also be streamed on the event's Facebook page (see link below).
