The Ballard County Fiscal Court has received a grant from the Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization to go towards a property purchase for maritime industry growth.

PACRO Executive Director Greg Wiles presented the check for $75,000 to the Fiscal Court on Wednesday.

The funds are set to be used in partnership with the Ballard Industrial Authority, the City of Wickliffe, and the Ballard Fiscal Court to purchase the property which is located on Beech Creek in Wickliffe.

The property will join adjacent property currently owned by the city of Wickliffe that expands to the Mississippi River and will be marketed to other maritime industry companies for growth and expansion in an effort to bring more jobs to the region.

Judge Todd Cooper praised PACRO for their continued commitment to Ballard County.

“PACRO has been such a tremendous partner with the city of Wickliffe and Ballard County over the last 15 or more years. PACRO helped Ballard County build a spec building in 2004 at a 72-acre site in Wickliffe which has morphed into the establishment of the International Fisheries Industrial Park. PACRO has partnered with the Ballard County Industrial Development Authority on a micro loan and grant program for existing businesses to retain, expansion or growth employment in the County. PACRO partnered again today to assist in the continued industrial development on the Mississippi River in Wickliffe, all in the name of retaining or creating jobs. Ballard County thanks PACRO board and director Greg Wiles as well as DOE for helping us with our goal to create and retain jobs in West Ky. We look forward to the continued long term commitment of the PACRO board into growing and retaining jobs in the region.”
