The Barkley Regional Airport Authority announced today that Dennis G. Rouleau from Madison, Alabama has been hired as the new Executive Director of Barkley Regional Airport, effective August 5. He will replace long-serving Richard Roof, who is retiring in September.

Rouleau was director of the Chicago Executive Airport for twelve years after having supervised their operations and maintenance staff for an additional twelve years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire.

He and his wife Kim and grandson Nick will relocate to the Paducah area from Alabama, where most recently he was Chief Operating Officer for an aerospace electronics firm as well as a private aviation consultant.

George Bray, Chairman of the Barkley Regional Airport Authority Board, cited Rouleau’s understanding of how a local airport can foster economic development as the deciding factor in the hiring decision. “Everything that Dennis brings to the table is exactly what the Airport Authority was looking for,” Bray said.

“I also want to thank the search team for their time and efforts,” he continued. That team was made up of four members from the Authority Board plus three members from the community-at-large.

In addition, Bray complimented the community as a whole. He explained, “Before Dennis even interviewed for the job, he brought his family to Paducah on his own and checked us out without telling anyone. They loved the city and its people.”

Rouleau appreciates the work that went into making the airport what it is today, and is ready to work with everyone involved on maximizing the potential that he sees in Barkley Airport.

“I’m very excited to get started building upon the outstanding work Richard Roof has done in building an amazing and safe facility during his distinguished career, it is something the community should be proud of,” Rouleau said. “As I take the yoke (helm)of the airport, I’ll be working very closely with the BRAA team, Airport Board, and community leaders to construct a new front door (airline terminal) to the region, and work with these same leaders, and others on maximizing the economic powerhouse potential the airport has for this area.”

Barkley Regional Airport provides commercial jet service to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and has a fixed-base operator and several corporate hangars onsite. A project to build a new commercial passenger terminal is in the design stage.
