A Benton man was arrested Sunday on drug charges after a crash.

Benton Police responded to the intersection of US 641 and Mayfield Highway, where one of the drivers, 26-year-old Jacob Royster, was bleeding and having seizures.  While helping with the crash officers said they reportedly noticed needles, a spoon, and a bag of white powder.

Officers transported Royster to Marshall County Hospital.

When officers spoke with Royster, he allegedly told them he had been drinking and using heroin before the accident.  Officers said Royster also told them he thought the heroin contained fentanyl.

Royster was taken to the Marshall County Jail and was charged with DUI first offense, possession of a controlled substance first degree first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Royster was also served with two felony bench warrants, one for failing to appear in court for possession of a controlled substance first degree methamphetamine, receiving stolen property, and two other drug offenses from July 12. The other bench warrant was for failing to appear for a methamphetamine manufacturing charge from July 10.
