A Benton man is dead after hydroplaning on a Marshall County highway.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened on Sunday at around 10:15 am. Witnesses told deputies a vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Connor J. Jung of Benton, was traveling west on Highway 68 near Sportsman's Lodge in Johnathon Creek, when it hydroplaned into the other lane and was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

Marshall County Deputy Coroner Curt Curtner pronounced Jung dead at the scene at 12:00 pm, according to the report. Jung was the only occupant in his vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, 66-year-old David Cowan of  Evansville, IN, along with his passenger, Patricia Cowan, were transported to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of their injuries.

All involved were wearing seat belts, according to deputies.
