A Marshall County man was arrested Monday on felony charges after he allegedly fled from police on a 4-wheeler and tried to run over deputies several times.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, a deputy observed a 4-wheeler traveling on a roadway in Briensburg Sunday night with the headlights turned off. The deputy followed the 4-wheeler for a short distance on the road and then tried to conduct a traffic stop.

The operator fled on the 4-wheeler for a few miles before going on a trail in the woods. The deputy parked his cruiser on the trail and walked back into the woods to try to locate the suspect. The deputy heard the 4-wheeler start, and the operator reportedly tried to run over the deputy with the 4-wheeler.

Other deputies arrived at the scene, and the operator allegedly tried to strike the deputies with the 4-wheeler several times. Deputies deployed their tasers multiple times, but the taser did not stop the operator.

Deputies said the operator hit the front of the police cruiser with the 4-wheeler, and tried to run over a deputy again, causing the deputy to fire a shot at the operator. The operator again fled on the 4-wheeler.

Police tried to locate the man on the 4-wheeler Sunday night but were unable to find him. On Monday, Marshall County detectives were able to identify the operator of the 4-wheeler as James David Hall, of Benton.

Detectives executed a search warrant at Hall's home and arrested him on two counts of wanton endangerment-police officer, fleeing and evading police and criminal mischief. Hall was lodged in the Marshall County Jail.
