Blasting at Kentucky Dam Today

A construction crew has notified officials that explosives will be detonated this afternoon near Kentucky Dam where a new lock is being built.

The project geologist for Heeter Geotechnical Construction said in an email this morning that the blast will occur about 4 pm in the lock construction zone. 

No road closures are required because the blast will take place more than 800 feet away from US 62, and well below the bridge deck elevation.
