A Ballard County woman is hoping that social media can help find identify a truck used in the burglary of her home.

Tonya Rowland said someone broke into her Kevil home just before 10:00 am Monday, taking all of the electronics inside. She estimated the value of the television, stereo, X-Box and 75 games at $6,500.

Rowland said she and her two sons feel violated, and she's concerned that this daytime crime might be the first of a new string of crimes. She referred to a rash of break-ins that happened a couple of months ago, one of which involved a bulldog puppy that was stolen, but eventually found in Cairo. Rowland said some of those burglaries happened in broad daylight, too.

The Ballard County Sheriff's office is investigating the crime, and a neighbor's surveillance camera captured video footage of a truck in her driveway. The Sheriff's Department is using the video file to assist in their investigation, but gave Rowland permission to publish an image on her Facebook page.

She has been able to get quite a few people to "share" her photo on their own pages, spreading the word about the truck.  It is believed to be an early 90's model Chevrolet S-10 extended cab, and appears to have damage to the driver’s side headlight or the front left corner of the vehicle.

A deputy with the Ballard County Sheriff's Department would not confirm that this crime is similar to those from before, but did say that they have received several calls with information since Rowland published the photo, and they are investigating those new leads.

Anyone with information should call the Ballard County Sheriff's Department at 270-335-3561.
