The district is currently registering students online, and asked all parents or guardians to review their plan that was approved by the school board and released late last week. It includes plans for in-person instruction or distance learning, at the parent's discretion, and school-wide non-traditional instruction if needed. Students can switch from in-person to distance learning once per semester, and must remain there for the semester.
Only students using in-person learning can participate in extra-curricular activities. If a student's safety requires distance learning, those same safety measures would prohibit other activities. Special exemptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis for participants in low-touch or low-risk sports.
Self-screening is expected for all staff, visitors and parents, and all students will have their temperature taken upon arrival. Anyone with a temperature over 100.4 degrees will not be allowed on a bus or in the school. Infected students must be symptom-free for 72 hours and teachers must get written medical clearance from a doctor before returning after illness.
Masks will be required when social distancing isn't possible and sanitizer will be available throughout the schools and on buses.
All rooms will be cleaned daily, with high-touch areas, including restrooms, disinfected frequently throughout the day. The cafeteria will be cleaned between lunch periods.
Designated entries will be used for arrival at school, and transitions between classes will be staggered and traffic patterns will be set up to limit possible congestion in halls. Dismissal times will also be staggered.
Students from the same home may be required to sit together on buses, which will be filled from back to front. Masks will be required, and will be offered if a person doesn't have one. Anyone who refuses to wear a mask or cannot keep it on could lose bus riding privileges. Hand sanitizer will be available.
Meals may be served in the cafeteria or classrooms, and may be pre-packaged for "grab and go," convenience.
Sports will follow KHSAA and public health guidelines, and spectator attendance may be limited or require tickets to control crowd size.
Bands and choirs will rehearse or perform in accordance with social distancing guidelines or rules put in place by other governing agencies.
