Charges are pending following a motorcycle crash Sunday night in Mayfield that left one person hospitalized.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, the collision happened around 7:40 pm at the intersection of North 12th Street and West Lee Street. Police said a vehicle, driven by Laura Parrott, was traveling south on North 12th Street, when a motorcycle, operated by Adam Oliver, allegedly ran the stop sign at West Lee Street, and struck Parrott's vehicle.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Oliver on the ground, bleeding from his face. Oliver reportedly ignored officers' commands to stay down and became combative, swinging at police and trying to leave the scene.

Oliver was detained for his safety. According to police, while being transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center, Oliver continued being combative, spitting at EMS personnel. After being treated at Jackson Purchase Medical Center, Oliver was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Police say the investigation is continuing, with charges pending.
