Voters in Christian County have chosen not to raise their own property taxes to fund school construction projects.

Unofficial totals on the tax question on Tuesday night's ballot were 9,301 against the increase, with 4,651 voting for it. That's 66.7 percent against and 33.3 percent for it.

If approved, the measure would have increased real and personal property taxes by 5 cents per $100 of assessed value.
