Kentucky State Police say officers found cocaine and a large sum of cash in a plane that crashed after running out of fuel Wednesday in western Kentucky, killing two North Carolina men.

Airport workers in Henderson discovered the wreckage Wednesday morning. The men who died were identified as 47-year-old Barry A. Hill and 48-year-old George Tucker, both of Sanford, NC. Police said Thursday they believe the plane, a Bellanca 17-30A , was stolen from Davie County, NC, and was being used without permission of the owner. Neither of the men was a registered pilot, according to police.

Troopers reportedly found several duffel bags in the plane wreckage containing personal belongings. They said one bag contained a large sum of cash and suspected cocaine.

The investigation is ongoing, and police said more details will be released.
