A threat that was reportedly made by a Crittenden County student quickly drew the attention of the Kentucky State Police.

According to the school district, the principal of Crittenden County Middle School heard about an alleged threat on Thursday. He investigated and determined that law enforcement should be contacted.

Kentucky State Police say they were contacted by Marion Police about the threat and investigated at the school. A student told police he overheard a male classmate tell someone he was going to kill everyone in the school. When the student who reportedly made the threat was interviewed, troopers say he admitted saying that if he was going to kill anyone, it would be the person to whom he was speaking at the time. He denied saying he would kill everyone at the school.

The juvenile was charged with terroristic threatening 3rd degree, and was taken for a mental evaluation.

In multiple online statements, Crittenden County School District said they, "make student safety and security its top priority, and we are vigilant to investigate any reported concerns." They said the student has been suspended until the full investigation is complete.
