Dawson Springs Man Faces Murder Charge

A Dawson Springs man is facing murder charges after a shooting Friday night.

On Friday, Kentucky State Police were contacted by Caldwell County Dispatch in reference to a shooting in the 100 block of Wood Lane.

Investigation revealed that 43-year-old Joe R. Curnell of Dawson Springs, had shot 24-year-old James Bannister of Eddyville. Bannister was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Curnell was arrested and lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.

He is charged with murder, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and tampering with physical evidence.
