As the Mississippi River continues to rise, the Dorena-Hickman Ferry halted service about 4:30 p.m. today due to floodwaters covering the Kentucky landing.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry normally has to close when the gauge at Cairo exceeds 44 feet, a point when floodwaters rise above where the ferry can operate.

Based on the river forecast, there is no estimated timeline for when the ferry is expected to resume service.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena.
