Kentucky Senator Bob Leeper (I-Paducah), has announced that he is ending his twenty-three year stretch in state government.

In an exclusive interview on The Greg Dunker Show on WKYX (owned by West Kentucky Star's parent company, Bristol Broadcasting Company), Leeper was asked how the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) will impact next year's re-election campaigns, but he gave a surprise response.

The senator said he isn't sure how it will affect state and national campaigns, but he knows one thing for sure... He will not be involved.

"One thing I'll tell you Greg, It won't affect mine next year, because I'm not running for re-election." Leeper said.

The Senator says it's time, after much thought, to give someone else the opportunity.

Leeper says he is ready to come home and live a life. According to the Senator, he has had two vacations during the twenty-three year stretch. He says he is ready to be a better husband, doctor, and uncle.

Leeper currently chairs the Senate budget committee and has served in the Senate since 1991.
