The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch until 9 pm for western Kentucky and southern Illinois.

Scattered, slow moving thunderstorms are expected to continue to develop during the afternoon, possibly lasting into early evening. Rainfall rates within these storms could exceed 2 inches per hour, producing the potential for flash flooding.

At 136 pm, law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across portions of Marshall County. Highway 408 east of Benton
has been temporarily closed due to water over the roadway. Radar estimates indicated over 2 inches of rain have fallen.

At 335 pm, radar indicated additional thunderstorms moving into Calloway County. Heavy rainfall from these storms could worsen any ongoing flooding.

Scattered, mainly heat-of-the-day thunderstorms are expected to bubble up each day Thursday and Friday, but should begin to lessen over the weekend and into next week. Lightning and locally heavy rainfall will be the main concerns.
